Hole was an American alternative rock band formed in Los Angeles, California in 1989, and was founded by singer Courtney Love and guitarist Eric Erlandson.
Hole released a total of four studio albums between two incarnations spanning the 1990s and early-2010s and became one of the most commercially successful rock bands in history fronted by a woman. Influenced by Los Angeles' punk rock scene, the band's debut album, Pretty on the Inside, achieved commercial as well as critical success. Their following 3 albums continued to have incremental success, yet Hole decided to disband in 2002. While brief, Hole’s impact on the grunge movement was large, and they received several accolades, including four Grammy Award nominations.
